Any true feelings of why you are a doctor and why you deserve a patient's trust to care for them?

Medicine was my passion from an early stage of my life, and that's why I enjoy practicing it every day. I have over 15 years of experience as an internal medicine doctor. During the past years I have practiced in a variety of clinical settings ranging from inner city (during my residency in Chicago and when I was part of a clinic in Cincinnati, Ohio) to the most rural area (when I worked in Kentucky), and everything in between.

I still practice in a "traditional" internal medicine setting, which means that your primary care medical needs will be taken care of both during the office visit, and if you need to be admitted to the hospital; thus providing a smooth transition to and from the hospital. In addition, I am the Medical Director of Heartland nursing home in Moline, where I still see my patients. I take pride in providing this type of comprehensive care, since very few primary care doctors still do that. I work closely with six other knowledgeable internal medicine doctors, and together we have over 75 years experience.

I am a strong believer in preventive medicine and leading a healthy lifestyle to prevent future chronic medical conditions. I get asked this question all the time: "Doc, I am young and healthy, so why do I have to come an see you if I am not sick?" Usually my answer is: "Vehicles need oil changes every so often even if there is no oil leak, and need brake inspections even if there are no squeaky brakes." You need health "maintenance" the same way vehicles need it to find minor issues (and deal with them) before they become major.

Outside Interests:

Hiking is my favorite hobby. This way I stay active while traveling and exploring new places. I have hiked in many of our local and national parks including Scott County Park, Grand Canyon, Zion, Bryce, Arches, and Death Valley, just to name a few. Biking is another hobby that I enjoy, especially in the summertime along the Duck Creek bike path and Chicago's Lake Michigan.
